What we collect and why

We collect only what an order or a consultation requires: your name, WhatsApp or phone number, delivery address, email if you give one, and the contents of your order. Where you describe your skin to us, that description and any photos you send are treated as confidential.

Payment is processed by MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money or our card provider. We see the confirmation and reference of a transaction; we never see or store your PIN, full card number or one-time codes.

If you create an account, we keep your order history and loyalty balance so we can serve you faster next time. You can ask us to delete it at any point.

Privacy

How your information is used

To fulfil and deliver your order, to answer your questions, to keep batch records tied to purchases so we can honour our authenticity guarantee, and, only if you opt in, to send occasional messages about restocks and offers.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We share the minimum necessary with our delivery partners: your name, address and phone number, so a parcel can reach you.

Skin photos and consultation notes are used to advise you and nothing else. They are never published, and we delete them on request.

Privacy

Storage, retention and your rights

Order records are kept for five years to satisfy Cameroonian accounting requirements. Marketing consent records are kept until you withdraw them. Consultation photos are deleted after 12 months unless you ask us to keep them for follow-up.

You may ask us at any time to show you the data we hold, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. Write to hello@houseofbkn.com. We respond within 30 days and never charge for a request.

Our site uses only essential storage — your basket, language preference and login session are kept in your own browser. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

Terms of sale

Orders, prices and payment

All prices are shown in Central African CFA francs and include applicable taxes. Delivery fees are shown separately at checkout before payment; nothing is added afterwards.

An order becomes a contract when we confirm it in writing by WhatsApp or email. Until then we may decline it, most often because an item has just sold out or a delivery address is outside the areas we can reach.

Where a price or stock level is displayed in error, we will contact you and offer the corrected price, an alternative, or a full refund. We never charge more than the amount you approved.

Terms of sale

Delivery and risk

Delivery times stated on our Delivery & Returns page are working-day estimates from dispatch, not guarantees. Where a courier delay occurs, we track the parcel on your behalf and keep you informed.

Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery to the address or the person you nominate. If a parcel arrives damaged, tell us within 48 hours with a photograph and we will replace or refund it.

Cash on delivery is available inside Douala only. For all other destinations payment is confirmed before dispatch.

Terms of sale

Returns, refunds and the authenticity guarantee

Sealed, unused products may be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund or exchange. For hygiene reasons opened skincare cannot be returned, except where the item is faulty, incorrect, or was recommended by us and caused a reaction.

Every unit we sell is logged with its batch code and expiry on arrival, sourced from an authorised distributor. If a product bought from us is shown not to be genuine, we refund it in full, collect it at our cost and withdraw the entire batch from sale.

Refunds are returned by the method you paid with. Mobile money refunds usually land within 24 hours of approval; card refunds take three to seven working days depending on your bank.

Important

Product use and advice disclaimer

House of BKN is a retailer and curator, not a manufacturer or a medical practice. The guidance in our knowledge base and from our staff is general cosmetic advice based on ingredient science and years of selling these products. It is not a diagnosis or a substitute for professional medical care.

Always patch test a new product, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and stop use if irritation persists. For cystic acne, melasma, eczema, suspected infection or any condition that appears medical, consult a dermatologist. We will happily refer you to one in Douala.

We do not stock or source hydroquinone-based bleaching creams, mercury-containing lighteners or unregulated steroid mixes, and we will not advise on their use.

Terms of sale

Content, brands and governing law

Brand names and product images belong to their respective owners and are used to identify goods we legitimately resell. Our own photography, written guides and site design remain the property of House of BKN; please ask before reproducing them.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon, and any dispute falls to the competent courts of Douala. Nothing here removes rights you hold under Cameroonian consumer law.

We may update this page as our operations change. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes affecting existing orders will be communicated directly.
